The Australian Universities & Schools USA Foundation was incorporated in the United States in 2006 and has been granted tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) status by the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Financial gifts from the UK
Tax deduction is available for our alumni who reside in the United Kingdom. Trinity Grammar School has an opportunity to become an affiliate of the Chapel and York Foundation. For Mr Sean Garman (‘03), his memories of Trinity are bright and full of opportunities to experience new things and grow his understanding of the world.
“I was fortunate enough to attend Trinity at a time when my family was facing significant financial challenges,” he recalls. “The School encouraged me to pursue a broad range of interests academically, sporting, and doing the International Baccalaureate opened my perspective to the wider world.”
In particular, Mr Garman remembers a strong focus on leadership.
“The School offered countless opportunities for students to take on leadership roles and what distinguished Trinity was its emphasis on leadership as service to others, rather than a means of advancing one’s ego.
“That ethos has remained with me long after I left the School. Indeed, Mr Garman’s school days are firmly in the rearview mirror and he now lives in New York City, but he remains close to Trinity, committed to donating financially through The Australian Universities & Schools USA Foundation (AUSUSA Foundation).
“I recognise that life is demanding and expensive enough, and that being asked to donate can feel confronting,” he says to those who may have reservations about supporting Trinity through donations. “However, many of us have been shaped by the school in ways we may not fully appreciate and that may have enabled us to achieve more than we otherwise might have.
“Given the role Trinity played in shaping who I am today, I feel a strong responsibility to give back.
“Supporting Trinity is about ensuring that future generations have access to the same, or even greater, opportunities. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.”
- Mr Sean Garman, Class of 2003
